Fiorelli: "We had planned to attack in the final"

Filippo Fiorelli (Team Visma-Lease a Bike), surprise winner of the 2026 Tro Bro Leon in his first appearance here, and also the first for his team:

“We planned to attack in the final kilometers. I was able to attack because I knew I had the support of my teammates behind me, and Axel (Zingle) in particular was strong in the sprint, so I took my chance solo. Racing with this team is important because it’s one of the best teams in the world. So there’s definitely a greater responsibility.”

“This is the first major race I’ve won in my career. This victory is truly special because I just lost a loved one who gave me my start at the beginning of my career. This victory is therefore for him.”
